10 Best Jewellery In The World In 2010
1. Harry Winston
This is one of my favorite jewelry brands because its store is located on New York’s prestigious Fifth Avenue and is one of the most luxurious addresses for jewel and ornaments. Even the famous artist Marilyn Monroe cited this in her song ‘ Diamonds are a girl’s best friend’. I love the designer who has created for well known royalty such as Queen Elizabeth Taylor II and Shah of Persia. He has worked on many world famous diamonds. I love his creation and the diamond drops which Richard Burton has given to Elizabeth Taylor. One should not do that even though Cartier sold these to Burton, Winston actually cut them!
2. Buccellati
The reason I like this brand is that it’s very exclusive. The brand is known for their engraved brushed-gold and platinum jewelry embedded with fine gemstones including rubies, emeralds, diamonds and sapphires. The above are all of my favorite gems.
3. Van Cleef & Arpels
This is the ultimate in luxury, whether it refers to the sumptuous interior design of their worldwide stores or other.
The ‘mystery-settings’ technique it uses is a technique in which the prongs are concealed beneath the gems they hold, so that the effect is that of a shimmering field of jewels. The technique can be seen to great effect in the popular page-shaped brooch, which is still produced. Also very popular are brooches shaped like figures. I am especially fond of the one with “a ballet dancer turning a pirouette or adorable little animals.”
4. Graff
The designer for this jewelry brand caused quite a stir at the Tefaf Arts & Antiques Fair. Part of the reason I like the brand is due to the designer who is born and raised in Geneva. The diamonds and platinum he uses are of the very top quality and that’s why I adore it.
5. Tiffany & Co.
Tiffany is the true legend. It became a major hit after Audrey wore it on the set of Breakfast at Tiffany’s. I loved the pair Charles and John who teamed up with the then most renowned silversmith in New York, John C. Moore, laying the cornerstone for the continuing success of Tiffany’s silver design. The company has stores worldwide meaning you can get the same top quality anywhere. The big white gold and stellar pieces and the famous ‘Celebrations’ are their best sellers.
6. Piaget
As diamond watches become a big craze for Americans and Europeans, Piaget, traditionally known for their diamond watches, creates diamond jewelry with their diamond studded Hearts & Charms collection and their Limelight collection which features my personal favorite gemstones like purple and pink sapphires.
7. Cartier
This is a world-known brand. It’s famous for his wild cats that are in platinum and white gold. The panther is still the symbol of the Parisian goldsmith. Their timeless charm is unmistakable.
8. Chopard
It is not only a watch brand. It’s something much more. Some of my favorite Hollywood actresses like Kate Winslet, Penelope Cruz, Hilary Swank and Charlize Theron have showcased Chopard jewelry.
9. Bulgari: one of the biggest names of our time.
10. Mikimoto
It has always focused on pearl jewelry. “If you like pearls, this is the best quality.” The brand pays meticulous attention to detail. Mikimoto teamed up with Japanese fashion designer Yohji Yamamoto to create an exclusive jewelry collection. This joint venture jewelry collection consists of 3 groups with about 20 pieces each.
